The SlicKer Project

SlicKer is a project for the KDE (K Desktop Environment) which is a desktop system for Linux OS.

I was concerned that Linux system developers had become too obsessed with trying to make the desktop too much like windows. So I started putting together concept sketches for a new way for the desktop environment to work

I submitted my thoughts to KDELook.org the place for eye-candy for the KDE. The response was over whelming with many positive responses and words of encouragement.

With no KDE or QT(the widget engine) Programming experience myself I decided

to set up a Sourceforge project and invite people to help program the application. There are now over 30 people currently developing the app from all over the world.

The lead developer was interviewed for a popular geek web site, and the news has spread to all countries.

The project is progressing well and might become included as part of the standard KDE distribution in release 4.
