SMS/Telco Statistics Package

This is a large on going project. It involves presenting owners of SMS and Premium rate phone lines with statistics based on their traffic.

As a large multi user environment that can be re-sold it has to be presentable yet flexible.

I achieved this through quite extensive use of CSS cascading style sheets. In total to remake the look of the site for another client it would only require making 11 new graphics and changing 5 values through 2 style sheets. Making the 11 graphics is speeded up by using Macromedia's Fireworks application which allows you to make graphics based on an XML document.

All this is coupled with a rather meaty PHP/MySQL backend which gathers the data from phone switches and SMS pipes and places them into a database from which we feed the web site. High level developers take care of all that.

To me the key to this user interface is 'Simplicity'. The user must feel that they are not interfacing with a database and collating the data but they are making a simple request and being presented with the report they need.

The clean appearance of the site and friendly approach to design will help the user feel comfortable in this environment and make the web site more approachable.

And one more thing: The developers I was working with do not allow the use of Dreamweaver or any WYSIWYG editor so each last little bit of HTML is produced by hand!
