Flash is a program that helps you make great interactive animations and presentations for your web sites. Although to a beginner it might seem overwhelming at first once you have grasped the basics it is very easy to make an animation that will impress your visitors.

The reason for using Flash is SPEED. It has a way of delivering quite complicated vector graphics in a very compressed format, which makes it possible to make full screen animations that load almost instantly. Having said that it is quite easy to get carried away and make your Flash presentation way too complicated and thus slow things down. Things that will slow down your flash presentation are: very complicated shapes/images that are animated a lot, lots of mp3 sound or just too much happening at the same time.

Flash comes with its own scripting language called Action Script that will help developers create interfaces and animated elements that handle user input, or even a rich visual user environment for a web based application.
